She looks out for the best interests of her team and values each team member as an individual, allowing us to feel seen and heard. Jeanette is a leader that I look up to, respect, and admire.
Role Model: Jeanette is a caring, dedicated, and compassionate nurse and nursing supervisor. She provides excellent clinical support to our nursing team, is readily available for questions, and is always willing to jump in and help with busy days or difficult situations when they arise. Jeanette is a thoughtful, fun, and supportive supervisor. She looks out for the best interests of her team and values each team member as an individual, allowing us to feel seen and heard. Jeanette is a leader that I look up to, respect, and admire.

Equity and Inclusion: Jeanette is committed to a culture of equity and inclusion; serving as an advocate for both staff and patients alike. Jeanette is always willing to go above & beyond to ensure that our patients do not fall through the cracks. She not only helps to resolve individual situations, but also works to improve the nursing process within our department & the organization to build a stronger foundation when gaps are identified. Her can-do attitude & creativity empower those around her to think outside the box and find creative solutions to patient care. Jeanette is willing to stand up for her staff when things are not equitable and has advocated for me wholeheartedly, when I have needed it. She is not afraid to speak up and stand up for what is right. She is committed to making change for the better, even when it requires persistence and perseverance to do so. Jeanette’s commitment to diversity & inclusion had a tangible impact on me, as an employee, long before she was my direct supervisor. Her leadership, visibility & advocacy as leader of the PRIDE ERG helped me to feel more comfortable & confident in myself as a queer-identified nurse working in pediatrics. Several years ago, after being furloughed during covid, Jeanette mailed to my home a PRIDE t-shirt and pin from the ERG team. This kindness allowed me to feel connected & supported by Children's during a difficult time.

Accessibility and Communication: Jeanette is responsive, accessible, and is an excellent communicator. She strongly encourages teamwork & professional development. Jeanette frequently brings professional growth opportunities to the awareness of our nursing team and supports us in participating in these. One example of this is that Jeanette recently encouraged & supported me in obtaining my Pediatric Nurse Certification. She arranged group study sessions for the nurses on our team who expressed interest in certification and supported us in creating space in our days to allow for preparation, all while working alongside us to obtain her own certification. She is not only supportive of my growth, but is truly invested in my success, acting as both a mentor and cheerleader.

Healthy Work Environment: One of my favorite parts of working with Jeanette is how supportive she is of the emotional & physical well-being of our team. Jeanette supports her staff in working-life balance, helping us maintain healthy boundaries and prevent burnout. She supports and encourages relationship building with co-workers, helping to create a stronger team and thus improve pt care & outcomes. Jeanette engages in discussion around self care, meditation, exercise, and mental health. She has encouraged our nursing team to attend the peer to peer and safety coaching trainings. Her humor & enthusiasm brighten our days and her care & compassion lighten our loads. Whether it is bringing in a new healthy snack to share, refilling my water bottle on the busiest of days, or engaging us in a healthy competition with the employee health wellness challenge, Jeanette can always be found making an impact on our team by encouraging self-care and healthy living.
