Bonita was fighting for me every minute. As she was working on getting things hooked up, bags of fluid going, and all the things she was doing, she was constantly talking to me to fight with her.
How do you thank the person that saved your life? I am not sure if I can say enough to thank her, but I'm going to do my best to share my story. When I got to the ER, I was very very sick. I had no idea how sick, but the triage nurse got me right back in to a check in process so they could get me to a room immediately. When they got me to my room, Bonita went to work, getting me hooked up to monitors and fluids and all sorts of things to improve my vitals. This could have gone either way. And although I won't go into details about my health, I will tell you there were multiple factors affecting my ability to fight the infection that was going on. It was a puzzle that everyone was trying to solve. Bonita kept talking to me, "We've got to get your numbers to improve, S. Keep working with me on this." The doctor was really worried about me. Everyone was. And so was I. I had never been in a situation where I realized I could lose my life if this did not go well. My family was there with me and so worried. I kept thinking I have so many good things I need to do in this world, this can't be my time. I must survive this. Bonita was fighting for me every minute. As she was working on getting things hooked up, bags of fluid going, and all the things she was doing, she was constantly talking to me to fight with her. To get my vitals turned around. Every time she saw improvement, she shared that with me. "OK S, your numbers are going up. This is good. We just need a little more so we can get you to the ICU. Let's get this done." I don't know how she did it. She was working so hard for me. I want you to know that I am crying as I am writing this because it was so scary. And I am so grateful and thankful that I had Bonita fighting for me and that we won that battle. She got me stabilized so that I could be transferred to the ICU, where I spent a day in their great care, and then was transferred to a room for a couple of days before going home. To Bonita - you are an angel, and I will never forget you and what you have done for me. You are amazing! I was so lucky to have you fighting for me. I am forever grateful.
