Throughout our clinical rotations, I’ve witnessed firsthand how Esmira applies her skills to provide compassionate and skilled care to her patients. One particularly memorable experience occurred during our labor and delivery rotation. She was caring for a patient who had been hospitalized for two months due to preeclampsia. This patient had faced many challenges during her pregnancy and was anxious about the upcoming delivery. From the start of her shift, my classmate was attentive, taking vital signs, performing physical assessments, and providing emotional support to the patient. The patient even referred to her as a “good luck charm” since she was finally able to give birth that day.

When it came time for delivery, the doctor was so impressed with my classmate’s skills and attentiveness that she allowed her to assist in the process. Esmira helped prepare the patient for birth and was right beside the doctor throughout the delivery. She was the first person (besides the doctor) to hold the baby, which was such a powerful moment. Afterward, she placed the baby on the mother’s chest for skin-to-skin contact, fostering that important early bond. Not only that, the doctor also entrusted her with cutting the umbilical cord and assisting with the placenta.

Her involvement in this critical moment demonstrated her dedication, skill, and passion for nursing. The patient and doctor both recognized her hard work, and I have no doubt that she will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many more patients in her nursing career.
