I have not worked with another nurse with as much clinical acumen or as much common sense as Mrs. Yakowenko. She understands more about cardiac physiology and pathophysiology than most physicians.
I am writing to make sure you are aware of one of your hospital’s greatest assets. Jo, the nurse in charge of the endoscopy department, is superb! Her knowledge level and extensive experience with cardiac and ICU patients is unsurpassed. I’ve been practicing anesthesia for over 40 years. During that time, I have not worked with another nurse with as much clinical acumen or as much common sense as Mrs. Yakowenko. She understands more about cardiac physiology and pathophysiology than most physicians.
Her expertise is very well suited for her role in Endoscopy. Many of the sickest patients at All Saints Hospital are seen in Endo. Jo’s vigilance has detected innumerable patients with severe life-threatening conditions prior to them undergoing anesthesia. In doing so, she has, without a doubt, saved many patients (and the hospital) from experiencing bad outcomes.
Mrs. Yakowenko is an excellent leader. She takes on the toughest cases herself and definitely has the respect of her staff. In addition, she is a pleasure to work with. In summary, Jo is probably the best clinical nurse I have worked with in over 40 years in medicine. She is, without a doubt, one of All Saints Hospital's greatest assets. I would suggest you do whatever is necessary to keep her happy and well-supported in her position.
