Christian had compassion for the patient, recognizing that they were going through the grieving process of diagnosis.
A patient was very upset in the office and was becoming agitated with staff. It began at the front desk and continued into the infusion area where he was being non-compliant and argumentative - he did not want blood drawn because, as the patient stated, “he was dying anyway.” Christian stepped in and spoke with the patient and eventually calmed him down and made him agreeable to continuing with the blood draw and treatment. When I checked in with Christian after the interaction he expressed that he was understanding of the patient because he is having difficulty with the process, experiencing some barriers, and is facing significant financial burden. Christian had compassion for the patient, recognizing that they were going through the grieving process of diagnosis.
His compassionate connections help our patients feel seen and more at ease. It's important that our patients feel that they have someone that they can trust and confide in as they are frequently visiting our office.
