Each of the nights I had Christina Woodson as my nurse, I received great care. We got along well and had many laughs. We had quite a good laugh one night as we tried to stop a hissing noise from my wound vac/bandage. She wrapped the bandage and found the leak with her finger. So, I held my 2 pieces apart so she could tape it. She added tape with her fingers and stopped the leak, but the leak was still there when she removed her hand. It was fun to watch her do this again and again - lots of tape! We settled for a small gauze to use as a compress and wrapped it back up. Christina helped me with a situation I was having with HBO therapy. I didn’t want to do it anymore after one time. I had a few excuses made up and told my wife and friends. I chose not to do them anymore, although my support team wanted me to. A late-night talk, and I asked Christina to tell me her thoughts. She explained I had a long road ahead and needed to get each step done right to get where I needed to be. She told me the therapy was important. Then, she set me straight. She told me as a nurse, as a coach or a mother, but she reminded me we have to do things we do not want to do in this life. But we do them. And then she reminded me that we all have to have some pain to get better. That is how life is. I listened and took her words to heart. All I heard was; "Suck it up". Not sure Christina said it that way, but the message was received. Four HBO sessions done. Thank you, Christina!
